FREEWORD: MOMENT OF IMPACT
Freeword is based on a future where poetry and other forms of expression have been deemed illegal so people have resorted to selling poetry in the streets like drugs.
This is the story of an African American family for whom the mother is a 19 year police veteran. Her oldest son is killed by another officer on the same police force who subsequently gets off for the murder.
The story picks up on her first day back to work and deals with the emotions that she is feeling. Does she belong? Does she still want to be a cop? How does her family feel; her husband and younger son?
As she navigates her emotions she runs into the killer of her son as he is gathering his things and being reassigned to another district setting the stage for her long awaited confrontation.
This emotional drama is a journey through the healing of the human spirit and the unwavering strength of family.
